France Cruise into FIFA World Cup Final
France have secured their place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar.
On Wednesday night, 14 December, the French team took on fired up underdogs Morocco and emerged triumphant with a 2-0 victory at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
Les Blues were noticeably hungry as defender Theo Hernandez launched the ball from their half and produced a goal within the first five minutes of the game, which swiftly hushed the mostly Morocco-supporting audience.
Both sides showed ferocity, but ultimately the French were too much for the Atlas Lions, and fresh substitute Randal Kolo Muani sealed his team-mates’ spot in the finals with another goal at the 79th minute-mark.
Despite being a force in international football, France – who have made it to the finals four times now – have only lifted the World Cup silverware twice: in 1998 and 2018.
France and Argentina will duke it out for World Cup glory in the city of Lusail at Lusail Stadium on Sunday, 18 December.
